Hey everyone, it’s Tanner. The LEGO Marvel Thor’s Hammer / Mjölnir (set 76209) is the smallest of the Marvel sculpture sets — alongside the Captain America Shield and the Black Panther bust — and the most apartment-friendly entry point into the line.

What Makes This Set Special

This is a 1:1 scale recreation of Mjölnir, Thor’s hammer, mounted on a Norse rune-engraved display base. The build delivers:

  • Mjölnir at 1:1 scale — same dimensions as the prop from the Marvel films
  • Norse rune base with engraved-look detailing across the top surface
  • A Thor minifigure with cape and Mjölnir-sized accessory hammer
  • The Tesseract as a small translucent-blue cube on the base

The hammer head uses clip-and-bar construction to render the slab-sided rectangular shape, with a clean handle wrap and the iconic embossed circular emblem on the head. From the right angle the silhouette reads exactly as the prop from the films.

The Build

979 pieces, roughly 4 hours across one or two sessions. Sequenced base first (with the Norse rune detailing), then the hammer head and handle, then the minifigure and Tesseract last.

The Mjölnir head is the engineering centerpiece. The slab geometry uses bracket techniques to render the rectangular cross-section without seams, and the embossed circular emblem on the front uses a printed tile (not a sticker) for crisp detailing. The hammer alone justifies the build effort.

What to Watch For

The hammer head is hollow. Like the Captain America Shield underside, this is a deliberate design choice to keep weight manageable on the display stand — but it means picking up the hammer feels lighter than the visual implies. If you came in expecting a solid hammer prop, set the expectation now.

The display angle is fixed. The hammer mounts to the base at a single angle (slightly tilted, head up). You can’t easily reposition it without rebuilding the mounting bracket. If you want to display Mjölnir in a different pose (laid flat, vertical, etc.), you’ll need to MOC the mounting yourself.

Display Notes

Footprint: 24cm × 16cm with a height of about 28cm (hammer + base). The smallest-footprint Marvel sculpture set in the lineup — fits a single bookshelf alongside other small displays.

This set pairs specifically well with the Captain America Shield and the Black Panther bust for a “Marvel relic” curated display. The three together — a hammer, a shield, a bust — read as a museum-curated set rather than a LEGO assembly.

Is It Worth $120?

At 979 pieces it’s $0.123 per piece — slightly above the Icons-tier average. You’re paying a small premium for the Mjölnir license, the Thor minifigure, and the Tesseract accessory. The build experience is solid but shorter than the Captain America Shield or the Black Panther bust.

Recommended at MSRP, especially if you’re building a Marvel sculpture shelf and want to complete the set. Must-buy on a 20% LEGO Insiders discount (~$96) — at that price, this is a no-question pickup for any Thor fan.
