LEGO Star Wars T-65 X-Wing Starfighter

The 2023 UCS X-Wing is the definitive brick version of the most iconic Rebellion ship — here's why I think it edges out the 2013 model.

The 2023 UCS X-Wing (75355) is the best entry-point UCS Star Wars set in the lineup at $240. If the Falcon and AT-AT are too much money or too much space, this is where you start your UCS collection.

What Makes This Build Special

The S-foils. They lock open and closed with a real geared mechanism — push the back of the fuselage and the wings split into attack position with a satisfying mechanical click. Every X-Wing toy I’ve ever owned has tried to nail this and failed. This one nails it.

The hull paint is the second standout. LEGO actually printed weathering and squadron markings onto the panels — Rebel insignias, scuff marks near the engines, the iconic red paneling. No stickers (mostly). Out of the box, this thing looks like it just took off from Yavin.

Display

Comes with a curved stand that displays the ship nose-down, wings flared — the same pose as the trench-run hero shot from A New Hope. It’s the most cinematically-displayed UCS in the lineup, and the stand has a printed plaque with the ship’s specs.

Old vs. New X-Wing

There are two UCS X-Wings: 10240 (2013) and 75355 (2023). I’ve built both. Here’s the honest comparison:

  • 10240 is bigger, has more pieces, and the original UCS purists love its scale.
  • 75355 is more film-accurate, has the better S-foil mechanism, and includes minifigs (the 2013 set didn’t).

If you’re starting out, buy the 2023. If you already own 10240, the 2023 is a side-grade — keep the original.

Verdict

The single best $240 you can spend on Star Wars LEGO. Pair it with the R2-D2 UCS for a sub-$500 dual-flagship Star Wars setup.
