The 2010 retirement landscape

What was leaving shelves.

After three years and a remarkable cultural footprint, the 10179 Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon retired in 2010. Released at $499.99 in 2007, sealed copies now trade for $4,000+. This set re-defined what an 18+ flagship LEGO product could look like — and its retirement was the first time AFOL collectors meaningfully experienced the "Cafe Corner curse" in real time. 10211 Grand Emporium launched as the third Modular Buildings entry. Bionicle's final retail wave cleared this year, ending the storyline that had begun in 2001.

A note on retirement dates

LEGO does not always announce retirements publicly, and many sets retire region-by-region (US first, EU later, sometimes years apart). The years here are a best-effort consolidation from public Brickset data, AFOL community tracking, and verified post-EOL listings. Every entry links to its Brickset reference page so readers can verify against the canonical source. If you have specific knowledge that corrects an entry, drop us a note.
